Plants are mostly singular, only an old plant may branch in time and rarely exceeding 7 to 8 cm high and wide.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFlowers are bright yellow and large for the size of the plant and are typical of the Aizoaceaea or Mesemb group of “Living Stone” like plants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePlanting and care:\u003c\/strong\u003e This plant habitates the dryer areas of the South African desert where many of the Mesembs rest with little or no water over the summer months. The main growing period for these plants begins with the Autumn rains through to Spring. Water sparingly over winter allowing the plant to be well and truly dried out between waterings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMost Mesembs such as Lithops Pleisopilos and Lapidaria can survive on 3 to 4 waterings in a year one indication of when they may need a drink is when the leaves go a bit soft and get wrinkly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLapidaria is also unusual in that it’s a monotypic species with only ones species in that Genera. As with most mesembs of the Aizoaceae family they like well lit positions with only light shading in summer this brings out the colours in this family very well.
